I gave it a shot and tested it again. The current version runs fine under wine and PlayOnLinux (which is just a graphical front end and uses wine under the hood afaik. But it keeps the games isolated from each other which is nice). So it was just an old version (0.1.4) that did not work.
The only issue I had was that it did not play the in-game music. Sound effects did work. CurveRadio opened in the web browser, but I guess it is supposed to work like that.
I did not try this on my gaming machine, but on a weaker system and the standalone in wine ran smoother than the browser version. So it might be worth a try on a slower computer.
